Know the Types of Calibration Weights in United States

How do you ensure that the scales used for certification by the weighing company for calibrating and certifying your weighing equipment are absolutely correct? The results are important for you, right? To ensure the results, some additional checks are needed so that no damage is made as regards the calibration error.  For instance, a bad fitting protective cover too can lead to weighing errors.

Know the types of calibration weights in United States here:

Cast Iron Bar & Hex Calibration Weights

Commonly used for testing commercial scales, industrial scales and retail scales. They are adjusted to MI tolerance equivalent to an accuracy of 1:20,000 or 0.005%.

These are called as bar weights and are available in 5g, 10g, 20g, and 25kg. Not good for the wet environment.

Brass Calibration Weights

Brass is less resistant to wear than iron, but more resistant to water. They are perfect for testing, weighing scales in food factories and other environments where the weights come in contact with water.

Brass calibration weights are available from 1g to 10kg.

Stainless Steel Calibration Weights

Wear-resistant and water-resistant, stainless steel weights are cylindrical and the best in the business. But they are difficult for carrying than iron weights.
Options – stainless steel M1 class calibration weights, Stainless steel F2 class calibration weights, Stainless steel F1 class calibration weights, and Stainless steel E2 class calibration weights. These types of calibration weights are the most stable of all in United States.

Miligram weights

Weights under 1g are milligram weights. These weights are made up of nickel sheet. To help you recognize the denomination, they are available in different shapes. A small lip is provided to help you pick them.

Slotted calibration weights

They are employed for testing crane gauges, force scales or suspended weighing scales. The hanger too is a weight and carries slotted weights. The latter are discs with slots.

Slotted calibration weights in United States are of either brass or iron; brass for smaller weights and hangers for testing weight up to 1000g with 4.5mm rod and slots.
