Different Types of Biological Microscope
A biological
microscope is an optical microscope that is used to study microscopic organisms,
cells, tissues and their vital processes. The magnification range of the
microscope varies and depends on the objective lens attached to it. The
objective lens is available in the range from 10x to 1000x. Some specialized version
of biological microscopes is capable of performing fluorescence imaging and is
commonly known as fluorescence microscopes.

Types
of Biological Microscopes
There are different
types of biological microscope like a compound microscope, inverted microscope,
and fluorescent microscope. These microscopes are used for different purpose
and in different applications.
Compound
Microscope: A compound microscope is an extension
of the magnifying glass that uses two or more lenses to produce the clear and
enlarged image of an object. It magnifies an object up to 1000 times of its
original size.
It is used to view
very small specimen such as cells, pond life, and other microscopic life forms.
Inverted
Microscope: Inverted microscopes, unlike upright
microscope, have light source and condenser set up high above the stage and
points towards the stage. The objectives and objective turret are located
beneath the stage and points towards the upper side. The biological inverted
microscope is used to observe living cells or organisms at the bottom of a
Petri dish or tissue culture flask. Since the cells are viewed in their natural
condition, therefore, they are viewed more clearly.
The lens of the
inverted microscope get closer to the dish containing cells and, therefore, it
is very useful to view the cells through the thick specimen.
Fluorescence
Microscope: A fluorescence microscope is the one
that produces an image by the process of fluorescence and phosphorescence
instead of or in addition to reflection and absorption to study the properties
of organic and inorganic substances. Thus it is produces a colorful image of
the specimen and is use to study the different parts of the sample.
These biological microscopes are available in
different series and at variable price.
You can choose the one that meets you purpose.
